The Cote d’Azur’s leading event in winter, one of the biggest carnivals in the world, offers a programme of unforgettable displays from 17th February to 4th March 2012.

The carnival processions, magnified by the gigantic decorations in Place Masséna, include 20 floats that tell the story of the ‘Mediterranean’.

These giant, colourful parades that take place day and night are brought to life by more than 1000 musicians and dancers from the four corners of the world. The elegant flower fights on the Promenade des Anglais form a part of the carnival that is not to be missed. From floats that have been decorated with the most beautiful floral compositions, people dressed in extravagant outfits throw flowers such as mimosa, gerbera, and lilies into the crowd.

For more than 20 days, city life moves to the beat of this authentic and magical event. The theme for 2012 will be ‘King of Sport’, an echo of the Olympics that are to take place in London in 2012, and the other sport related activities that will be going on in Nice, France and the whole planet A global theme, then, that will bring people together and will be, at the heart of the processions, a tribute to all of next year’s competitions.
