PRESENTATION OF THE TRACK

“Bike riding in total security, doing ones favourite sport freely or simply enjoying an outing to make the most of the environment” are all aims of the county’s bike plan “Plan Vélo 06” initiated by the Conseil général des Alpes-Maritimes, “an action that touches and betters the quality of life”.

The town of Villeneuve Loubet has been a pioneer in this area with the creation of the cycle path la “Villeneuvoise”, 10 years ago. This was the 1st network to be shared between cyclists and pedestrians, linking the village to the coast. Since then various improvements have been made and it is now a well adapted 3,5km long cycle path, ideal for a family outing to admire the country side.

When you leave the harbour front (East of Marina Baie des Anges), you will meet the cycle path that then passes in front of the nautical centre into the Bouches du Loup residential area, highly demanded in the Belle Époque.

A passage reserved for pedestrians and bikes goes under the motorway avoiding having to cross major roads, and leads to the greenery of the banks of the river Loup. A little further you will cross a vast agricultural area cultivating tobacco, flowers, carrots, plants for silk worm farming and more…

The round about of the sports ground offers a splendid view of the Provencal village with its medieval fortress. The cycle track then leads over a bridge to the entrance of the Rives du Loup natural park.

But the outing is not over as Villeneuve Loubet incites you to continue on near to 4km of cycle paths throughout the town and 1,2km more in the midst of the country side, on the river bank…

A new cycle path even takes you out of the town towards Nice and the Conseil général plans to create a network of 270km in the near future.
